my bladder cancer

by: Mike on Wed, May 14 2008

I have had 5 operations and a round of bcg treatment in the last 12 months. The operations started with the removal of a large tumour inside a diverticulum inside my bladder. In January this year I was told that I would probably have to have my bladder removed because of abnormalities shown up on an mri scan. A further check cystoscopy was done and 6 biopseys taken. They all came back negative for cancer and turned out to be just an inflammation of the lining of a diverticulum inside my bladder. I am 51 and greatly dreaded the prospect of having my bladder removed. After my last check cystoscopy I was told that there was nothing at all wrong with my bladder now and that the diverticulum seemed to have healed up. The huge surge of relief that I experienced led to a form of ptsd from which I am gradually recovering. I believe that given a determined effort to lead a healthy lifestyle and maintain a positive attitude then in some circumstances the body can heal itself.
