I am a cancer survivor of 12yrs. in fact it will be exactly 12 yrs. on 19th June 2008 since i had my right arm amputated due to osteo sarcoma. My form of cancer is pretty rare for someone of my age i was 44 at the time you can do the maths yourselves. My cancer was not detected until very late,in fact it was 12 to 14 mths. before i saw the right consultant who knew what she was doing, a very clever lady i owe my life to her skill as a surgeon second to none she is my hero, can’t say that about some of the other numties i came into contact with, all men i might add The tumor as you can imagine was very large in my shoulder by this time prognosis was not good, but the operation went 100%, surgery was very extensive is called fore quarter amputation.I am a very independent person stubborn even,i set about making myself fit and well again. So 12yrs later i am still here i run about 3-5 miles every other day do aerobics also weights, and i never touch pharmaceutical drugs, apart from thyroxin which i have to take due to chemotherapy which caused thyroid problem. I do quite a bit of research to help keep me fit i rely on myself because we know our bodies better than any doctor,or we should. I found the trick is never give up no matter what happens, cancer can be beaten and many others have done it also. Take control of your own health,i have!!!! still here to tell the tale,if my story helps one person i will be happy, so God bless and stay well. Comments
