To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Colon Cancer Survivor at 33 I have two small children (1 and 3) and early detection saved my life. After I was diagnosed with severe anemia and blood was found in stool samples, my doctor ordered a colonoscopy and endoscopy to see if there was a cause for internal bleeding. The gastrointestinologist found a tumor and that evening the surgery was scheduled. Three days later, the pathology report confirmed that the tumor was malignant, but no lymph nodes were affected and the margins were clear (Type IIA). I am now cancer-free! I hope my experience will encourage people to get colonoscopies done, even at an early age. The discomfort is a small price to pay for the rest of your life. I also want to mention that I would feel like I had to vomit when I cried or laughed hard, which I understand may be a symptom. If your doctors are not persistent to help you be well, please ask questions and find the help you need. July 2008
