My worst nightmare (and blessing)

I was horrified in 2003 when I discovered I had colo-rectal cancer. But, I trusted those who took care of me (except for the male nurse who jerked out my catheter without any preparation when I was in ICU). My surgery was a little complicated but I lived through it. I was a II/III. It has been a bittersweet 6 six yrs of being “cancer-free” but I constantly reflect upon the fact that many victims did not make it as I did.

Those who have died, as in war, are the REAL heroes to me. I’m sure some patients I have seen are not living now but the last impression I got of them was their smiles and upbeat attitude with an enormous amount of dignity. God bless them and the patients today. I am going to try and have my ostomy bag taken down even though I am 66 y/o. I just have to see if I can do it. It has been six long years of being a slave to this thing. Good luck and best wishes to all.
