brother’s esophageal cancer

by: Bill on Wed, May 21 2008

I’m 7 years down the road from a bout with throat cancer. Last week, my brother (53) found out he has a tumor apparently at the base of the esohagus roughly 1 1/4 inches and evidence of invasion of the lymph glands. Thoracic surgeon has prescribed chemotherapy and no surgery at this time. For me, this brings back some horrible memories of dealing with this terrible disease. His is described as adenocarcinoma and everything I’ve read is very depressing. I was glad to read here of the man who is mowing lawns 5+ years after diagnosis of esophageal cancer. Any insight on what facility or Dr. has been on the cutting edge of treatment of this disease with measurable success?
