my husband of 26 years of marrige just got diagnosed

Hello my name is Karen and this is about the only place I can talk about this. My husband and son were going to take a horse pack trip, and my husband (who is a doctor) noticed his pulse rate was increased over usual. He then listened to his own heart realizing that something was wrong and he did not want to be way up in the back country with our son and have something happen.

So he called his doctor friend (a cardiologist) and said what should I do and his friend said get your xxx down here. Then it was discovered that my husband has right sided heart failure, his tricuspid valve is almost nonexistant, his liver is one hand breath under the rib cage (and tests showed that his liver was also full of carcinoid.

We have an appointment at on Monday. This will happen only one week after diagnosis. The appointment is at 4:30 in the afternoon. I was afraid that they were just going to say “we will make you as comfortable as we can”. I think my husband is in a lot of denial (we also have a almost 18 year old who is getting ready to go away to school. My son has a college account. But we never planned for something like this to happen.

I am handicap due to (something they don’t know) that creates arthritis, and I have HAD to have to back surgeries which have done nothing do make me better, only to leave me in much worse condition (to anyone contemplating back surgery DON’T). Right now I am so afraid and I can’t show my fear or talk about it in any way. Is there hope.
