To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Unexpected punch biopsy of tongue Though I’ve had a painful area on the side of my tongue near my back molar, I thought I may have bitten it when I first had a new filling redone near that molar a few months ago so I didn’t think about it a lot. I did mention it to my GP this week to have her take a look at the spot since it hadn’t healed. As luck would have it, a visiting resident from a nearby medical training institution was in our clinic that day, and he took a look. He recommended performing a punch biopsy, to which I agreed, as I was eager to have it removed and to have a clear diagnosis. The results should be in within 2 weeks. I am worried and reading a few reliable sites on the web just to be prepared. I have one stitch which will dissolve at some point. The procedure was painless, thanks to an injection of lidocaine, but later on I saw stars and was surprised by the level of sheer agony in that spot. Gly-Oxide, Ora-Base B and time have helped a lot. Much better on Day 2. Can eat oatmeal and drink milk at least, still unable to chew. I have never smoked cigarettes nor been a drinker, only occasional wine, yet both of my parents smoked during my 18 years living with them growing up. I am female, middle-aged, never had cancer before and hope I don’t now. We shall see….eager to learn all I can. Comments
