To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Betty’s story I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in May of 2005, stage 3c. Basically I was very tired but I attributed it to working hard and being over weight. So, I finally went to my doctor stating I was so very tired. My doctor a CBC to see if I was possibly anemic. Well my white count was elevated and my doctor repeated it in 2 weeks and it was still high so she sent me to a Hematologist and he did test and they all came back normal, tumor markers, that is. So eventually I had a Cat scan and then Pet scan and that showed the cancer. I had 3 rounds of Chemo and then surgery and then 6 more rounds of chemo. I was in remission until July of 2006 and went back on chemo and again I’m in remission. I only take tamoxifen everyday and it is working well for me. I feel really good and I have always stayed positive and will continue to. I really think being positive is as important as the treatments. But again I only had an elevated white count and my ca125 was and still is within normal range, that makes me a little uneasy because unless I have an elevated white count how do I know when it’s back? But, I don’t dwell on it and life is good! I hope this will be helpful to anyone else that is going through this. There seems to be so little outlets for Ovarian Ca patients to express themselves and talk to others, so I really like having this opportunity.
