prostate cancer - after treatment problems

61 year old has radioactive seeds implanted for prostate cancer The seeds seem to do the job, psa is very low, oncologist very happy. BUT, patient is left with persistant explosive bowel movements and, of course, has to urinate immediately upon standing up. Life is miserable, still trying to work, but finding it almost impossible. Has tried metimucial, immodium, ibs digestive advantage, kegel exercise. None of the doctors seem to think it is a big deal, but it is a very big deal. Anyone out there found any help for these problems.
