Basal Cell Carcinoma

I survived melanoma 15 years ago with radical surgery on my back and thought I had the big C beaten, until earlier this year a ‘blind’ spot appeared on the tip of my nose.

I went to see my GP - creams didn’t work so I waited for a referral to see a skin specialist.

Not happy to wait 6 months it takes to see somebody on the NHS, I went to see a cosmetic surgeon

He spotted it was a BCC straight away and within a week I had a biopsy. The results came back as nodular/superficial BCC and I’m now waiting to have Mohs.

I am terrified. Unlike Melanoma, BCC won’t kill me but I will have visible scars and have to have reconstructive surgery.
I have read others’ stories similar to mine and I feel so low… I thought I had It beat.

I must stay strong and see this through, if I could turn the clock back I would NEVER go in the sun again. Melanoma kills, BCC can disfigure….poeple should be aware of this as BCC stays long after the tan has faded.
