To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Gastric Cancer and My Family Well, it began in October of 2006, my husband was exhibiting all the symptoms of cancer of the stomach - vomiting, pain in abdomen, constipation and weight loss. Finally he was diagnosed and the roller coaster began. He had surgery to remove the tumor wherein they discovered that the tumor had metastasized and could not be removed as it was in stage IV. He also had a feeding tube inserted as he was unable to keep food down, as well as a drainage tube to be used when he feels nauseated. We were devastated but we were told chemotherapy was the only option and it was only aimed at treating not curing. So we set off from Chicago to New York to Memorial Slaon for treatment. We had a couple obstacles such as infection with the insertion of the metaport for the chemo and renal failure not associated with the cancer. The feeding tube came out after three months as a new tube grew where it was. Now my husband undergoes treatment every other week, he has lost 3/5 of his weight from 145 to about 90lbs, he has very little appetite, constant pain and constipation. We are hopeful for a miracle and that he will return to normal life soon. Comments
