Astrocytoma

by: Pauline on Tue, Jul 10 2007

I was diagnosed with this particular cancer in 2002 grade, 3 they told me. They, being the surgeons, decided it would be beneficial if I was to have radiotherapy. It turned out that I had six weeks of radiotherapy. Backwards and forward the taxis use to come. I should not moan. It is true to say that I have been left in pain all the time because of the evasive surgery. Nine years of suffering and none of the doctors taking me seriously. I’ve survived through sheer bloodiness and being stubborn. Now I’m trying to organise a party (a fund raising party) to celebrate life being still around after five years. Here’s to another five years then ten years.

  • NHL-but I thought it was just a sore knee! - by LS - (Mon, Jul 09 2007)
In 2003, I twisted my right knee when tripping over a step. It continued to hurt when I exercised but I just took my Tylenol and went on. Then, in January 2006, after getting up and down from my knees over several hours, my right knee was quite swollen and tender. “Well, I better get this seen, I may need an excuse for work!” My orthopedist ordered an MRI “Let’s make sure its just a strain” but then he called me that same evening to sat he needed to repeat it, with contrast media, because “it looks like a lymphoma”. Being diagnosed in early 2005 with a fairly advanced stage of nasopharyngeal carcinoma was devastating, demoralizing and frightening beyond any degree ever experienced. [more..]
